All surgical procedures are strenuous on the body and it takes time to recover fully. Probably two to three weeks is the most realistic time frame before a body can fully resume all the usual activities. The goal of postoperative care is to prevent complications such as infection, to promote healing of the surgical incision, and to return the patient to a state of health and fullness of life as quickly as possible.
